Germans outstanding performance takes them through the finals

Germany's younger team professional performance in their 11th semi-final outing of the Hero Honda 12th Hockey World Cup 2010 beat England convincingly by 4-1 and gave them chance to create history by winning third consecutive World Cup.
There seems to be a problem in turf in the left side of first-half of English side, which gave Germans many hit-ins. England conceded penalty corner in 5' and half metre up drag flick by Montag wasn't thwarted by above 6 feet England goalkeeper, James Fair gave them 1-0 up and an added pressure.

England made some exquisite moves inside German's castle but even dives by English captain , Middleton can't convert it.

Then, a beautifully executed reverse flick goal was held foul by referee for obstructing German goalkeeper by another Englishmen.
Then, Oliver Kann fantastic finish in 11' gave Germans authoritative lead .
Although, after 15' of play,there was 54% penetration in German's half by Englishmen,they were held by astute German defense line.

Englishmen,Robert Smith's lightning drag flick in 17' penalty corner between the legs of goalkeeper was the lone goal of the match.

English captain, Middleton's desperate dive to thwart cross in the 21' mishandled the ball and gave Germany another penalty corner.
Continuing his superb performance in the match,James Fair stopped the drag-flick by ground and then a flying rebound was acrobatically stopped to squander the  goal attempt beautifully.

Germans got another penalty corner in 31' and they didn't squander it this time with the amalgamation of  superb design and fantastic execution left Englishment dumbed and gave German's well deserved 3-1 lead in the first half. The goal was scored by Haner.

In the 2nd half, left side turf smoothing problem gave couple of hit-ins to Enland.
German players demostrated impeccable stick skills and relentless man marking didn't allow Englishmen to enter into their arena.
Germans build on counter attacks and only leave England full backs without men.

England paced their attacks but with astute defense line, they were unable to capitalize on the goal. They have 57% ball attacks in 20' of 2nd half.

Germans strategy to goal on counter attacks proved to their side in this match. In the 24' video referral by Germans gave them another penalty corner, which converted 2 off 4 this match, Linus Butt scored on rebound in consecutive penalty corner and gave them 4-1 lead which remains until completion.

For the first time four times champions Pakistan finished last at a Hockey World Cup after they were beaten 2-3 by Canada in the 11th-12th place play-off at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here earlier in the day.


Germans will play the winner of Netherland v/s Aus match ( 2035 hrs today ) on 13 March 1805 hrs IST.


India will face off with Argentina for 7th position tomorrow @ 0605hrs IST
